The 2017 Philadelphia Union season was the club's eighth season in Major League Soccer, the top flight of American soccer. The team was managed by Jim Curtin, his fourth season with the club. The Union finished the 2017 season with the same points total as the 2016 season, but did not clinch entry to the MLS Cup Playoffs. The 2017 season also marks a new goalscoring record by C. J. Sapong who scored 16 goals in a single season, eclipsing Sebastian Le Toux's record of 14 goals during the inaugura
