The .44 Auto Magnum Pistol (AMP) is a large-caliber, semi-automatic pistol cartridge developed in 1971 by Harry Sanford. The primary use is in the Auto Mag Pistol. The cartridge was also employed in the Wildey automatic pistol, including a few other custom pistols. While factory loads are manufactured, cases can be made by cutting down and reaming out .308 Winchester or .30-06 Springfield brass, with ballistic performance similar to the .44 Magnum revolver cartridge. The .44 AMP was discontinued
