It is named from the Greek words akalles, meaning ‘‘ugly’’, and bregma, meaning ‘‘face’’, for the unusually shaped anterior portion of the head in this species. It has a mandibular horn, moderately elongate body shape, and strongly concave posterior portion of the mesosternum.
