Beech Settlement was a rural settlement in Ripley Township, Rush County, Indiana. Its early settlers were free people of color and a small number of free blacks, who came to the area with Quakers. Beech was one of Indiana's early black rural settlements and also one of its largest. The rural neighborhood received its name because of a large stand of beech trees in its vicinity.
