Fărău is a commune located in northeastern part of Alba County, Transylvania, Romania. It is composed of five villages: Fărău, Heria (Hari), Medveș (Nagymedvés), Sânbenedic (Magyarszentbenedek) and Șilea (Magyarsülye). The commune is situated on the Transylvanian Plateau, on the border with Mureș County, at a distance of 58 km (36 mi) from the county seat, Alba Iulia.
