text: The Hamu al-Qadu Mosque was a historic mosque located in the city of Mosul, Iraq. It dates back to the Ottoman era and is next to a market. The mosque also contains a tomb of a local mystic, Shaykh Ala al-Din, whose tomb is located in the basement. The tomb was visited by locals every Thursday and Friday prior to its destruction in 2014 by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
